Great blog! Do you know of almost any tips for aspiring internet writers? I'm intending to commence my own, personal website eventually however I'm a minimal lost regarding all. Might you offer beginning a free software just like Wp or even select a settled method? There are lots of choices in existence that I'm totally confused .. Any sort of recommendations? Thank you!

Congrats on the sucess of your thrillers! Yes, I think most women have had experiences where you either feel out right threatened, or you just feel that something is not right. I know I've had a few moments where I've had a choice to go one of two directions, and all of a sudden I'll get this "feeling" not to go one particular way. It's like a strong feeling that I better not go there, and I've always listened to it. I'll never know whether that "feeling" saved me from some unpleasant experience or not, but I know when I get it, I need to listen to it.

Congrats to you Michele on your success with the e-books. That is really awesome.

Here are my answers to your questions:
1. What causes me to buy a book is first the author, if it is someone I have read before, and I enjoy reading. But, if it isn't an author I've read before, I would say it would be the description on the back of the book. I'm not totally particular on covers, in that as long as the description sounds interesting to me, even if the cover isn't all that great, I will still give it a try.

2. For years my favorite genre was romantic suspense. And I still love r/s, but I've branched off into reading other genres too.....women's fiction, mysteries (mainly cozy), and thrillers. I find that I am much more open to trying new types of genres now, than ever before.

3. I read both. I love the cozy mystery series books. I like getting to know the characters in those books, and find that I enjoy spending time with them through many books. But, I like the stand alone books just as well. I like "connected" books....like a minor character from one book, might then later be the main character in another book. Along the lines of some of Jane Porter's women fiction books.

4. Both. I like reading about the chracter's lives, but they need to have a plot that sounds interesting to me. I guess the plot gets me to pick up the book (description on the back), but the characters really draw me into the reading. I also love settings. When I come up with a new story to write, it is the setting that comes to me first, before even the plot or characters. So, settings are important to me, and could actually be the cause of me buying a particular book.

Oops - I need to revise my answer to your first question:) What causes me to buy a book? A colorful, exciting cover will initially make me pick up the book, but ultimately it is the back cover copy and the first page. If I open up the book and that first page sucks me in, I'm going to buy the book.

Thanks again for your great post!

Thanks so much for sharing your inspiring story! I am a writer on the road to publication as well as an avid reader, and it's so nice to find fellow writers who are willing to share their unedited publishing stories:)

Now to answer your questions:
1. I am drawn to covers with bright, pretty colors that look professional and that make me want to pick up the book!
2. I love women's fiction, especially women's fiction with a more humorous tone to it. I'm also really getting into mysteries lately.
3. If I love the first book in a series, I will absolutely read the whole series. That being said, I love a stand alone book as well.
4. I think that the plot and the characters are equally important. I have to care about the character enough to keep reading in the first place, but even if I love the character, there has to be a strong plot to keep me turning the page.

It could be a good marketing resource. I learned about you through my LinkedIn group, Indy Quillen mentioned your work. It's nice to have friends in your corner. : ) - Gayle

It's difficult to see a parent struggle through a disease/illness. My dad had cancer in 1996/1997 (and passed away in 1997) at the age of 67. I always thought he would be around much, much longer. My mom is now 78 and she looks SO much younger than 78, that sometimes I really have to remind myself that she does take things slower now because she isn't as young as she looks. I take her to more doctor's appts now. I am aware that she won't be in my life forever, therefore the times we spend together are all the meaningful for me. I am glad you are able to be there with your folks and congrats to them on 47 years!
(On a side note: the new website is great.)
